CARAA has initiated a new research project with the Corbusier Foundation. This project focuses on the physico-chemical analysis of materials used by Le Corbusier (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret).
The study covers the architectural paintings of several works in France and Switzerland, furniture, paintings on canvas and sculptures, as well as the materials found in his workshop (paints, brushes, palettes, buckets, wallpaper etc..).
The techniques used include light and electron microscopic examinations and analyses by XRF, SEM-EDS, Raman et FTIR.
This study complements numerous analyzes already carried out for more than 10 years and will be published at the end of the project. One can already find the restoration case study of the apartment in the Molitor building (2014-2108) in a chapter of the Royal Society of Chemistry dedicated to pigments and dyes.
