CARAA has the chance to participate in an exciting study on toxic materials in the textile collections of the Galliera Museum, France<\/strong> \"😍\"<\/h4>\n

More than 270 fashion objects \"👗\" \"👒\" \"☂️\" \"🥿\" \u2026 from the museum’s collections are analyzed during 3 weeks in situ<\/em> and non-invasively by XRF. The study is carried out in collaboration with Lisa-Charlotte LARDEAU and Camille LALLEMAND.<\/p>\n

Initially focusing on the search for mercury or arsenic in clothing and accessories from the 18th<\/sup>, 19th<\/sup> and 20th<\/sup> centuries, the study also concern, by extension, other potential candidates (books, prints, boxes, conservation products, etc. ) and other potential inorganic elements .<\/p>\n

Therfore, tin and lead fillers added to the silk at the expense of their conservation as well as the mordants and salts used during the dyeing process are also studied.<\/p>\n

More than 1000 individual SFX spectra will be acquired and processed during these weeks of analysis!!<\/p>\n
